The snow has finally melted and spring has arrived.  It’s been an exciting month at VMware that included the announcement of Horizon 6 as well as the release of vCHS – Disaster Recovery (RaaS).  There was also the Heartbleed vulnerability that hit the web like a fireball.  April’s edition of the Scoop may be the best yet.  I’ve collected a variety of articles that will be good reading material for sitting in the backyard and enjoying a sunny spring afternoon.

On the back of the vCHS – DR (RaaS) announcement, I give you a few vCHS articles, in particular on how vCHS is different than other public cloud providers.

I can’t forget about Horizon 6 which I am very excited about.  VMware continues to push the bar on end-user computing.  Some highlights include application publishing using Windows RDS as well as vCAC support for View.

I was working with a customer yesterday who was not using DRS.  They had all the proper licensing but was not taking advantage of one of vSphere’s core technologies.  At a minimum, turn DRS on and set it to Manual.  At the very least you’ll receive recommendations on where to move workloads based on resource utilization in your vSphere cluster.  On the heals of that, the following article asks the question, why are you not using HA monitoring?

Interested in Log Insight but not sure where to get started?  Start with some free training…

VMware and VMUG are hosting two awesome events, hopefully in a city near you.  The VMware Tech Talk (formerly Knowledge Series) is hosting a Horizon 6 event and VMUG is hosting an NSX Series.

A few storage articles…

As always, I love reading about how to succeed, in both life and business.

That’s it for the structured data, below a few articles that I found useful and worth sharing.  Enjoy the warm weather that spring has brought us.
